'Water Dragon'

Eye to eye with an Australian Water Dragon (Intellagama lesueurii), basking on warm sandstone. These semi-aquatic lizards live along creeks and rivers of eastern Australia, can grow to about a metre, and are strong swimmers. Males like this one carry the bigger crest and the colourful chest. Shot low and front-on, picking up on the intricate detail in his scales.
